The waterside village of Hickling is enviably situated on the Norfolk Broads National Park and a short distance from the coast and sandy beaches.
Believed to date back to the late nineteenth century, Path Cottage has been sympathetically improved and extended and now presents as an idyllic escape to the country, set amidst some of the most picturesque landscapes and waterways of the Broads.
Set well back, passers-by could be forgiven for ever knowing Path Cottage even existed. Whilst enjoying its discrete setting toward the heart of the village, Path Cottage sits on an enviable plot that extends beyond one acre and which consists of carefully planted gardens, a vegetable garden including greenhouse and potting shed, and a cultivated meadow. This is accompanied by a well-stocked orchard of over thirty fruiting trees including Norfolk heritage varieties.
Path Cottage also benefits from the addition of a detached self-contained holiday cottage called Neaps. This is set in its own enclosed garden with separate access. Most recently used as a successful holiday let, however equally suitable for independence of aging loved ones or those yet to fly the nest, a home office or even an artist’s studio.
Both properties are approached from the road, which leads to Hickling Broad, along a driveway that opens up on to hard standing suitable for a number of vehicles and boat storage as well as access to Neaps and the double garage/workshop. Beyond the gate the shingle driveway provides additional parking and access to Path Cottage.
For those looking for relaxation and recreation in a beautiful setting, Path Cottage is a short walk to water sport facilities, boatyard, parish moorings, village hall, nature reserve and two pubs. If that’s not enough then the coastline of sandy beaches and seal colonies are under five miles and less than twenty miles to the vibrant city of Norwich.
